Save the Date: Pancake Fundraiser on April 23rd

NKOA will be hosting a pancake breakfast fundraiser on behalf of the Hogan family.  The Hogan’s, who recently lost their home and two children in a Lisbon Falls house fire, are members of the 4H community.  The children and parents within our 4H community have been deeply affected by the loss of our friends, Natalie and Kelsey Hogan.  All proceeds from our fundraiser will be given directly to the Hogan family to help them rebuild their lives and home.

2nd Annual Winter Fun Day

Today we had fun playing in the snow and sledding at our 2nd Annual Winter Fun Day (i.e. sledding party). We spent several hours doing some "extreme sledding" that was worthy of video tape, especially when Bryar hit a jump on her sled and landed upright on her feet! LOL! Our members had fun post-holing through the snow, building snow forts, and dodging four legged friends on the way down the hill. We had great weather today, lots of fun and we all went home exhausted from the exercise! Here's to Winter!

Sledding Party

NKOA's theme this month is Outdoor Recreation. So this past Wednesday we went sledding on the hill near the Lisbon Credit Union. It was very cold and windy but we braved the elements, had lots of fun and got plenty of exercise to boot.

Hard to believe that last year at this time there was no snow on the hill!!
Taking a break to enjoy some hot cocoa compliments of the Thompson family. Thanks again!!

Here is the hot cocoa monster that Tamra drew!

Owl Spotting

Check out this Barred Owl that Valerie spotted in her yard yesterday. A Barred Owl call sounds like, "Who Cooks for You? Who Cooks for You all?" How neat!

Our Recycled Bug Project for Earth Day

NKOA was inspired by this Giant Caterpillar project done by a group of New York school children. We plan on building our own "Bug" during the months of March and April out of recycled laundry detergent bottles. We will unveil our bug for Earth Day in April.

We are so exited to start on this project, but we need your help! We need donations of laundry detergent bottles and wire. These items can be dropped off at the University of Maine Cooperative Extensions Androscoggin-Sagadahoc office located at 24 Main Street in Lisbon Falls. Please tell them they are for NKOA.

Thank you for all your help!!

Today's Bake Sale

Several NKOA members and their families braved the cold elements today to help us with our bake sale at the Auburn Walmart. Despite the wind we had a fun time selling brownies, cookies and fudge. We want to thank everyone who helped out today and a big thank you to everyone who supported NKOA by purchasing goodies or donating to our club. If you were not able to come to the bake sale today and would still like to support our club please check out our online fundraiser on our home page.
